Dr. C. Richard King, professor in CCGRS, has received a Fulbright Scholar Award for his project “The Cultural Politics of Difference: Articulating Race, Culture, and Nation in Contemporary Austria.” The fellowship will be hosted by the Karl Franzens University Graz, where he will teach two courses in cultural studies and begin a new research project on ethnic, racial, and religious difference in light of the recent wave of refugees and ongoing concerns about terror and security.

Dr. Pamela Thoma, associate professor in CCGRS, has received a Fulbright Scholar Award for her project “Gender and Citizenship in Asian American Literature and Culture.” The fellowship will be hosted by the University of the Ryukyus and Meio University in Okinawa, where she will teach American studies courses and work on her coedited book Teaching the Works of Karen Tei Yamashita, a volume in development with the Modern Language Association of America for its Teaching World Literatures series.
